The Red Carpet Comes To Newcastle

The north of England is a wonderful place. The green landscapes, the old cobbled streets in the tiny cities and people who have chips, cheese and gravy all in one without being judged (yes, it is the best thing ever). Although the north is definitely where my heart lives, I do sometimes find myself craving the glamour and the excitement that London seems to offer. That's why I love it when things expand up here to give us the chance to experience glitz and glamour for ourselves without leaving our own cities, and next month, American Express© and the 61st BFI London Film Festival are brining something very exciting to Newcastle.

This year, the 61st BFI London Film Festival takes place from October 4th -15th, screening exciting new films from around the world. In case you're not familiar with it,London Film Festival is an annual event held that showcases the best up and coming films from the UK and around the world,a nd as you can imagine, it’s quite the occasion. American Express has been the headline sponsor of the festival for a number of years now and this year is giving those of us in Newcastle the chance to enjoy the experience for ourselves with cinecast of the live red carpet event from the Opening Night gal, followed by the European premiere of Breathe. The film will be released across the UK and Ireland on 27th October.

So as I mentioned, some of the best up and coming movies are showcased at the London Film Festival, and this year one of those films is BREATHE, a drama directed by Andy Serkis and based on a true story, starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy. He plays Robin, a guy who contracts polio and becomes paralysed; the film follows his wife's emotional journey. With the star-studded cast, director and production team, as well as the fact that the film is based on a script written by Oscar-nominated William Nicholson - who has films such as Everest and Les Miserables under his belt, Breathe is undoubtedly the perfect choice to open the festival. On the 4th October, cinemas around the country including Newcastle Cineworld will be streaming live from the red carpet at Leicester Square, followed by showing the European premiere of Breathe, and guess what?
