Trying My First High-End Beauty Subscription Box

One of my favourite things that the blogging world introduced me to is the monthly beauty box. I was always a bit unsure about them, a bit sceptical about whether they'd just be filled with mini perfume samples and things I'd never really use but in fact, after trying a whole host of them, I've found them to be a great way to find and try products you may not have usually considered and the most recent one I've been testing out is blogger favourite Cohorted.

In the last 6 months or so, I've seen a hugeeee step up in beauty box standards and have seen so many with full size, high end products for really reasonable prices and after hearing a lot of good things about Cohorted, I couldn't wait to give it a little go. Cohorted is definitely one of the more high-end boxes I've tried with a price point of £35 per month for your subscription but as it's been constantly raved about with amazing reviews from bloggers and other publishers alike, I had no doubt it was going to be a great box to try out. The Cohorted brands that are included are well-loved by beauty lovers everywhere with previous boxes including brands such as Too Faced, HD Brows, MAC, Sleek and so many more, I couldn't wait to see what was included in my box.

Cohorted is known for its chic, black boxes, neatly tied together with a ribbon and a surprise goodie box of beauty products inside. The first thing I reached for in my box was the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which is a product I'm sure we've all heard about more times than we've changed our bedsheets in the blogosphere. Is it better than sex?? Well, I'm not quite sure I'd go that far (ahem) but as far as mascara's go, it is pretty darn wonderful. It's actually probably one of the best mascaras I've used but as I normally stick with my favs Urban Decay for mascara, it's something I may not have ever tried without the wonderful world of beauty boxes!

Next, I pulled out the BellaPierre Cosmetics Kiss Proof Lip Creme which admittedly is something I haven't tried yet and it's not a brand I've ever even heard of. However, for me, this is what subscription boxes are all about; getting your hands on things you've never heard of, would never have thought to buy before and most importantly, finding new products that you love. I'm a sucker for sticking with what I know and although I do try a lot of different products and change up my make-up and skin care all the time, I stick with the same type of things: matte lipsticks, contour kits, nudes...you get the picture. This is probably a brand and a product I would have overlooked if I were out shopping myself so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Next up, I got the Kure Bazaar Nail Polish and I painted my little tootsies with it immediately after months of having them and it felt good. The colour is so pigmented on the nails and only needed one coat (hallelujah!) and actually, after drying, it stayed perfect for a good few days which, as someone who spends a lot of time on my feet, is quite rare!

Finally we have my favourite out of the lot - the BellaPierre Glowing Palette. This is right up my street (you'll have probably noticed my face glowing for thirty miles away the amount of highlighter I wear) and it is definitely, definitely, definitely something that is going to be well used in my every day make up. The different shades of highlighter are wonderful and can be suited to every skintone and not only is it a wonderful product, it's worth £40 so the £35 for the entire box is simply amazing when you look at the bigger picture of the products you're actually getting.

I'm very happy with the products I received in my Cohorted box and although it is on the higher price end of the subscription boxes, it is 100% worth it when you consider the quality of the products you receive each month!

You can subscribe and find out more about Cohorted here.

  1. I stopped purchasing beauty boxes because I found I just had drawers full of sample size products that I wasn't using, this one looks great with full size products!

  3. wow, I've never heard of this beauty box brand but it sounds so good! There's something quite satisfying about opening a beauty box and seeing something from a well known brand like Too Faced! Makes it feel a bit more like it's worth the money! x
