No Frills

You may have caught my post the other day all about dressing for Christmas parties and I loved it so much I thought I'd start a new mini series, including ideas about how to dress up during the festive season. I'm a bit of a strange one because I dress up all the time during the day but when it comes to going out, I dress kind of down in comparison to a lot of traditional going out outfits. I'm not a fan of the typical bodycon dresses and strappy heels (which look amazing on other people, don't get me wrong) so I thought I'd share some of my kind of going out/party ideas, this vintage style dress being one of them.

This caught my eye on the Zaful website straight away. It's cute but edgy with beautiful detailing, layers of chiffon and a gorgeous grey colour, making it perfect for an evening look alone or a daytime dress with a leather jacket. I love pieces like this because they can go one of two ways. They can give off the vintage chic, feminine vibes with a cute up do and some little pointed shoes or they can become a bit girly grunge and that's exactly what I did here with the black boots. Isn't it funny how a simple piece of footwear can totally transform an outfit? I'd definitely wear this for a Christmas meal out, maybe even adding some vampy lipstick for even more edge.

Another thing I love about this dress is the colour. It's kind of really pale blue/grey colour with sheer arms, lot's of layers, ruffles and frills and a high neck. To be honest, there is a lot going on with this which is why I've kept the rest of the look simple with black bag, boots and subtle make-up with a light pink lip. I kind of feel like a wrapped up Christmas present wearing the dress so that makes it great for a festive party right?! What I really wanted to show you though, like in my last Christmas party post, is that you don't have to wear heels or "party shoes" for a night out. You can look just as great in flats and boots and I know I feel more comfortable too!

Also, can we just appreciate how well this outfit fits in with the background?! We took these photos in the beautiful Rosebery Hotel in Jesmond which we were lucky enough to stay in last week (blog post all about that coming soon!) and let me just tell you it was dreamy. I mean, I think you can tell just how bladdy cute it was just by these photos - I wouldn't mind shooting here every week if I'm honest!

Stay tuned for more Christmas party outfit ideas in the coming weeks!
