Two Beauty Products Worth The Splurge

Like most other girls in their early twenties, I like to save money where I can and I love nothing more than a good ol' dupe for something that would usually cost an arm and a leg. However there are some things, especially beauty products, that I would always splurge on no matter what.

The first is foundation. I've tried so many different foundations over the years and only in the past few years have I found two that I really love. I went through drugstore foundation after drugstore foundation and because I'm so pale, none of them were the right shade for me. You know when you buy a foundation in the shade "porcelain" but then it's actually orange when you put it on your face? Yup, that happens to me every time. The shade range of high end foundations is just so much better, going way beyond the "light. medium, dark" that a lot of drugstore ones have so there's more choice for the palest of skin tones right through to the darkest.

My foundation true love comes from Urban Decay and it's their trusty Naked Skin Foundation. I've used this daily for around 3 years now and I just love the demi-matte finish, the silky texture, the high coverage without the cake...it's my ultimate foundation. At £27, this is a lil bit pricy but it's worth it for me for sure. I've recently been trying UD's new foundation offering too and so far so good! The Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation is a much heavier coverage than the Naked foundation with a fully matte finish, meaning it's great for long days or nights out as it's so long lasting. I'll keep you updated as I use it more but so far I think it's a winner!

The second beauty product I think is worth the splurge is cleanser. I've talked a lot about my skin recently on this blog and you'll know by now I have combination skin that's quite blemish prone and in my youth I wouldn't use anything that was for "oily skin" or "mattifying." My skin suffered because of it and it's only been recently that I've branched out and tried other things and my skin is thanking me for it. I've found that cleansers are really worth the splurge. High end cleansers tend to be a lot gentler on my skin and a lot more effective, cleaning my skin properly, helping prevent excess oil and getting rid of blemishes. Micellar water has been a blogosphere fav for a while now and I've recently got the La Mer Micellar Cleansing Water, a splurge from House of Fraser that I think is worth it. I've only used it a couple of times so far but it's great for getting rid of make-up and any other nastiness that may not be great for your skin at the end of the day.
