If I had to pick two things to splash out on, those two things would undoubtedly be shoes and bags. Whilst I constantly find myself swooning over the latest Burberry trench coats and the beautiful high end dresses on Net-A-Porter, for me shoes and bags are the things worth investing in. The two rarely go out of style, meaning that when you break it down to cost per wear, you really get your moneys worth (especially if it's a piece you really love!) and there's just no beating the quality of a designer bag. I'll be the first to admit I don't own many designer things but the things I do own I'm absolutely in love with, two of those things being these amazing Gucci shoes and the Maiyet mini messenger bag.

From the minute I ordered these absolutely stunning Gucci loafers, I watched my emails for the dispatch notification, I waited for the text to say they were on their way and when they finally arrived I nearly cried in excitement. Gucci shoes on my feet?! Gimme gimme gimme! They're just as beautiful in real life as I imagined and they're actually the comfiest loafers ever, even if they are a little bit too big for me (I can deal with my little feet sliding around a bit in these babies). I just think you can't go wrong with a pair of classic black shoes like this. They look amazing teamed with a super laid back outfit like this but could also be jazzed up for a night out (if you'd dare wear them to a club or pub!) or for a really smart outfit with a black skirt. That's what I mean about investment footwear like this; you can wear them with anything, year after year, season after season, outfit after outfit. Plus, can you tell these were a very Lydia Elise Millen inspired purchase?! I'm loving that gals YouTube and blog right now - I just swoon over everything she buys!
This classic Maiyet Messenger Bag is another one of those staple items. With this one, I went a bit out of my usual style and got a deep green colour, despite the fact I'm usually totally drawn to black bags. I just thought the deep green really made the bag stand out in a subtle way, meaning it can still be worn with nearly every outfit whilst also clashing just enough to make the outfit your own. I've been using this almost every day since I got it as it's the perfect size for throwing in your phone, keys and a lippy and then you're good to go!
You can get 20% off your order at Maiyet if you use the code "SALTANDCHIC20" and that is a whopping discount right there!
What's your ultimate staple? Do you splash out on anything in particular?

Oh that bag!! I completely agree, I would definitely invest in expensive shoes and bags more than anything else! Although I have to say having my own Burberry trench coat is very appealing aha! x

Everything about this look is perfection. Very simple and classy too. I always had been a fan of mixing designer bags and (sometimes) shoes too. My problem is I wear shoes out way too quick, which is quite sad when you invest so much money into them.
