Breaking The Style Rules

I've never been the type of person to hold back with what I wear. If I like it, I'll wear it. Simple. I'm not the type to only wear "going out dresses" for going out, only wear jeans for casual days or to only wear clothes from the "festival category" in a field because if I did that, chances are I would never ever wear any of the clothes that I own. This dress is one of those that people look at in surprise when they see me wear it on an normal, ordinary day where I'm not going out anywhere special, not going to be seeing many people and not going and sitting in a festival field watching live bands. However, I don't dress for anyone else or what other people think should be worn on a "down day"; I dress for myself.

GLAMOROUS MIDI DRESS: ASOS / *GREEN MESSENGER BAG: c/o MAIYET / *BROWN WATCH: c/o TIMEX / *PATENT BLACK ANKLE BOOTS: c/o NEW LOOK / SUNGLASSES: H&M / *STERLING SILVER RING: c/o JEWELLERY BOX

I feel more comfortable dressed up in a jumpsuit from the "going out" section of ASOS than I ever would wearing a pair of jogging bottoms and a jumper and so what if I want to do my make-up even when I'm not leaving the house? I dress for me and if I want to wear a sparkly black bodycon skirt and thigh high boots on a rainy Tuesday afternoon then I bloody well will - wear what you want, regardless of whether people think you're over or underdressed or whether you want to wear your ancient, ripped jeans to a party. Just make sure you feel good.

Anyway can we just take a sec to talk about my amazing Maiyet mini messenger bag? I am obsessed with the colour, especially as August comes to an end. Green is a colour I don't feel I have enough of in my wardrobe so a little staple bag like this is perfect for me. I kind of have a thing about small bags - I'm instantly drawn to them as soon as I see them and I'd choose a mini messenger bag like this over a huge tote any day. It stops me taking so much crap I don't need out with me as well as looking super cute!

I've always been a big jewellery fan but recently I've been loving little dainty pieces and this Sterling Silver Ring is exactly what I'm loving at the mo'. It's understated but elegant, with gems that constantly glitter and gleam making it seem so expensive. But guess what? It's only £7.15! Yup you read that right. It's from Jewellery Box, a brand that stocks absolutely amazing jewellery from cheap to luxury so it's great for all budgets, especially in the run up to Christmas!

Maiyet are running a competition where you could win one of these mini messenger bags - all you have to do is follow them on Instagram! They're drawing a winner on 3rd September so be quick!

  7. I totally agree, dressing for you is the most important thing! If you want to put on makeup and not leave the house you go for it! I do it all the time and it's something that makes me feel happier and more confident, it's not for anyone else. I love your dress, it looks stunning x
