AW16 Trend Guide: Animal Print

It's that time of year where the summer sale stock gradually starts to move out of the shops and Autumn styles creep in and I'm not complaining. I love summer and the warmer styles but I'm not going to lie, I love a season change and I can't wait to get cosied up in jumpers with a cup of tea (contrary to popular belief, not everyone likes pumpkin spice lattes!) If you've already started AW16 shopping like me, you'll have undoubtedly noticed all of the animal print creeping in. I love a good animal print trend (gimme all the leopard boots!) so thought I'd put together a few of my fav pieces from the high street to get your Autumn wardrobe a kick.

TOPSHOP BOOTS . BOOHOO SKIRT . MANGO SCARF . NEW LOOK HEELED SHOE . RIVER ISLAND BACKPACK . ASOS JACQUARD DRESS . MISSGUIDED BOMBER JACKET . MISSGUIDED SHIRT . FRENCH CONNECTION COAT . ASOS BELT .

I think a lot of people are scared of leopard print and let's be honest, getting it right for everyday wear can be a bit of an art form. For example, I'm not a fan of that gaudy, rather "tacky" leopard print on certain pieces. Some people can pull it off but for me it's a no go! That's why I like to go for the more subtler pieces of animal print, whether it's an accessory or just a feature in a piece of clothing. For example, my favourite piece here is undoubtedly the French Connection coat. The black wool blend makes it a staple but the faux fur leopard panels jazz it up just a lil bit - imagine how chic this will look with jeans and some black ankle boots! Plus, it's down from £185 to £59 so if that's not bargain of the century I don't know what is!

Leopard print shoes are my absolute faaaav for trends like this and I've already worn my leopard print pointed shoes more than enough this year. The Topshop leopard boots are a bit of an investment piece but you know me, I have an obsession with ankle boots that just can't be satisfied and I love a good statement shoe - I'm just far too predictable!

Finally, if you aren't a fan of the traditional animal print which I know a lot of people aren't, you could always go for something a little bit unconventional like this Missguided Bomber Jacket. It's still animal print but the toned down grey-teal colour makes it a bit quirkier, a bit less in your face and even more perfect for AW. I very nearly bought this while I was writing this post but can I really justify buying yet another bomber jacket? I'm teetering....

What do you think of animal print?
