Y Not Festival Lookbook

Festival can be incredibly hard to dress for; there is a 100% chance it will rain so you'll be splodging around in mud the whole time, yet you still want to look super cool, amiright? Yup, thought so! I managed the balance quite well at Y Not Festival over the weekend so here are my three outfits from over the weekend that got me through pouring rain, freezing winds and finally a bit of sun!

So the Friday was, as usual, the wettest day and after putting our tent up we looked like we'd just been in the shower. I wore my Rocket Dog wellies which, despite getting extremely muddy, took the battering perfectly and kept my feet dry and festival ready whilst perfectly matching my outfit. I went for the embroidered jeans, a bell sleeved top and both Jess and I picked up one of the Y Not Festival hoodies to keep us warm later in the day. I rarely see jeans featured in people's festival lookbooks but they're one of my favourite things to take as they can look cool whilst also being practical because let's face it, pretty, floaty dresses aren't always the best idea for life in a muddy field no matter how great they might look!

Remember the wellies will be available exclusively at Schuh very soon!

So the second day was sunnier and dryer but that's when the freezing cold winds came. I went for this simply stunning bright orange patterned dress that's actually warmer than it looks thanks to the thickness and the high neck. It was dressed down perfectly with my Rocket Dog wellies which again kept my little toes toasty in the cold and looked so cool with my Y Not Festival hoodie. I was planning to wear my Rocket Dog silver sliders with this outfit but thanks to the absolute bog that resulted from the Friday's rain, having my toes out was simply not an option. That's why I loved these wellies so much though - they're so versatile that I could count on them even if they weren't my original plan.

As you can see too, I decided my hair was too much to cope with after Friday's rain. A full fringe + torrential rain + wind = a right old mess. Luckily there were hair braiding stands dotted around the festival so some braids and some glitter decorations on my face finished off my festival look perfectly.

And finally we have my favourite outfit of the weekend and yup, it's the typical, non-sensible type of festival outfit with *shock horror* lots of white. Luckily, the ground had dried up a bit, it was quite warm, the winds had died down and I thought it was time to get out my "dangerous" outfit - it could have ended badly! Somehow, my dress escaped without a mark on it and my Rocket Dog trainers ended up with only a few splatters of mud but lets be honest, that's how white trainers are supposed to be right?! My glitter lasted through the whole of Sunday too and I kept my fringe braided back and teamed with my favourite embroidered jacket, this was the perfect look to finish off the weekend and it's even something I would wear at home!

What would you wear for a festival?

  6. That red dress is such an unexpected festival piece but really cute! Your third look is my fave. If I was heading to a festival this summer I'd definitely do some funky glitter like you guys did, and probably the dress/jacket combo. Lighter fabrics will dry better in any wet weather than denim xx
