My Ultimate Bucket List Trip

So yesterday Karl and I just got back from the beautiful city of Dubrovnik (lots of posts coming your way about that one!) and of course, we're already thinking about our next trip and in particular we're thinking about where we might want to go next summer. We spent most of our time in the Old Town in Dubrovnik and we also went over to Montenegro, a place I'd never even thought of going before, and during our entire trip we noticed loads of cruise ships docking in both Dubrovnik itself and Kotor. That's what set us off thinking about our next trip - a cruise. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise before and I just know I have to tick it off my travel bucket list.

I've been looking at the Thomson Cruises on the Planet Cruise website and oh boy, do they give me wanderlust. I think the thing what really draws me to a cruise is the fact that it's one holiday on one amazing and huge ship with all the amenities you could want but you also get to see and experience a whole host of other places that you may otherwise never have thought of visiting. I just love to imagine myself sitting on the deck, sipping a drink by a pool on the ship, watching another destination approach. I imagine waking up in a different part of the world every day for a week or two and I can't think of anything that would suit me more.

For example, I'm absolutely desperate to see more of Italy. I've been to Rome once before and I absolutely loved it but as Italy can be quite expensive, I can't afford to take all of the trips separately. I came across the Highlights of the Med cruise that stops in Palma, Ajaccio, Rome, Florence and Pisa, St Rapheal and Barcelona, creating my dream itinerary for a Mediterranean trip, all for a super reasonable price, especially when considering how much each trip would cost separately.

Another place I'd absolutely love to see more of is Greece. I visited once before a couple of years ago to the beautiful island of Rhodes but time and time again I've swooned over friend's and blogger's holiday photos of different parts of the country and I've now ticked up a great whopping list of places to visit. Of course, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini are on that list but another part of Greece that quite often features on cruise itineraries is Athens and that is somewhere I know Karl and I would love to see on our cruise list. Karl is obsessed with Greek history so a Greek island cruise that included Athens would be a dream, mixing history, culture and amazing experiences with the traditional beach and relaxation aspect of a holiday.

So that's why a cruise is at the top of my travel bucket list! I can't stop dreaming about it so I hope that next year I can make that dream a reality!

  2. This sounds like such an amazing idea! I've always been a little scared of boats, but by you saying how amazing it would be to wake up every few days to a new destination...well it's kind of put it into perspective! It sounds like a fantastic opportunity to and I've heard loads of people say that because the boat is so big, you sometimes forget that you're literally floating on the ocean! The idea for your next holiday sounds great, I hope it all works out xx
