Dubrovnik Lookbook

Dubrovnik was quite a tricky trip to pack for. It's a coastal city that gets very hot at this time of year but it's not really one of those places where you just lie by the pool or on the beach. We had a lot planned so weren't really going to have time for any rest and relaxation (more on what we got up to coming up in later blog posts!) so I wanted comfortable, light clothing that of course, was still stylish. Here are a few of my favourite outfits from my trip. Apart from one thing, I don't actually think I bought anything new at all for this holiday and just wore things I already had in my wardrobe which just proves you don't need to spend a lot to have the perfect holiday outfit!

So this first outfit was what I wore on my first day in Dubrovnik. I actually got this dress from Urban Outfitters last year and I absolutely love it. It's got such a vintage feel to it and is just adorable, especially when teamed with the white chunky sandals and my backpack. I almost felt like an incredibly stylish 12 year old going back to school....Anyway this dress actually has a cut out back so it kept me cool in the baking hot sun and although I don't normally wear red I can never resist this bright lil number in the summer!

Because I got this last year I can't find the exact dress online but this Miss Selfridge Red Tea Dress is really similar and this Lindy Bop Dress is almost exactly the same! I've also linked a few below that are similar styles too if you want to add something like it to your wardrobe!

You may also recognise this dress from a previous post; I wore it for my graduation! As you've probably guessed, I'm not the type of person who will buy something I love and only wear it once. When I get married I'll be that person rewearing my wedding dress with some chunky ankle boots! This dress is just too pretty to sit in my wardrobe for the next few years so I had to take it on my jollies. It's my favourite fit ever and the pretty pastel colours meant it was the perfect dress for my first night in Dubrovnik. This Poppy Shift Dress is actually still available on ASOS too if you have any nice occasions or holidays coming up!

These Michael Kors Sandals probably take the title of my most worn pair of shoes this summer. The heel is the perfect height for holidays, they're a staple and match just about anything and basically, I'm in love with them. I wore them every night when I was in Barcelona too and have worn them with jeans, dresses, jumpsuits and everything else at home. Who says it's possible to overwear a pair of shoes?!

You guessed it; I also bought these trousers around a year and a half ago. I'll admit I haven't really worn them but I think that was mainly due to the weather last year as we didn't have that much of a summer so I threw them into my suitcase and I'm so glad I did. They were the perfect pair of trousers when we had a bit of a stormy day in Dubrovnik. You know how when it's stormy and hot so even though the wind is chilly you're still sweating? Yep, that was exactly what we were facing on our second day in Dubrovnik so shorts and dresses weren't really an option. Aztec flares are comfy, they make a statement and they're great to wear summer after summer, holiday after holiday and they'll still look great. Again these exact trousers are out of stock now but I found this pair of Aztec Flares on Pretty Little Thing which are quite similar!

I posted this on Instagram with the caption "this is my attempt at being cool." I'm not a very cool person in real life (in fact I'm probably the least cool person ever) but I'm not going to lie, I felt so fricking cool wearing this floral embroidered hat. Normally when I wear caps I'm either at work (dat fast food life) or pretending I'm Ash from Pokemon so me pulling off this look is kind of a big deal okay!? This floral cap is from ZARA but this ASOS floral baseball cap is so similar and I'm actually considering expanding my cap collection, which is something I never thought I'd say!

I went for all black for the rest of the outfit and you may recognise these items from my Barcelona Lookbook. The shorts are from ASOS last year and the bodysuit from Topshop and they are definitely holiday wardrobe staples for me. You can't go wrong with all black right?!

Okay so this was the only new purchase I made for this holiday and I'm sure you can excuse me. How bloody cute is this dress?! I actually bought it after seeing it on the amazing Charlotte from Lurch Hound Loves and after seeing how good she looked in it, I couldn't resist. This is the Star Print Wrap Skater Dress but they also have the Star Print Shirt Dress - is it acceptable to buy that too even though they're so similar? We've also got my trusty Michael Kors sandals again - told you I wear them to death!

I wore virtually this exact outfit in Barcelona and loved it so much I had to wear it again, this time for a trip to the beautiful Mljet National Park. Although my footwear may not have been the best choice (a chunky flatform wedge turned not to be practical footwear for trekking through the island) there's no denying they looked super cute with my slogan bodysuit (the slogan could not be more apt when you consider the location!)

You may also notice my anklet. I usually wear a shell anklet when I'm away that I got from the Bedouin people in Egypt last year but sadly, me and Karl had a bit of an issue with a kayak in Dubrovnik (which involved capsizing in the middle of the ocean but that's a story for another day) so it got lost in the sea. I was so upset so I had to buy another one, this time from a local in Dubrovnik who made them so this is now my official "travel anklet" - cute huh?!

So they are my favourite outfits from Dubrovnik! What do you normally wear for trips away?
