Choosing The Right Gift

Whether it's for your mum, dad, brother, sister, best friend or even yourself, choosing gifts is hard work. I always worry that they're not going to like it or they're already going to have it or that it's not a nice enough gift and it can be stressful, especially if you're a bit of a panic buyer and leave things like birthdays until the last minute. That's where online shops like Moonpig come in. Yup *sings* Mooonpig dot cooooooom. Everyone knows about Moonpig whether you order your gifts online or not but I for one didn't realise just how many different varieties of gifts you can order from them - talk about an online treasure trove!

Yesterday was my foster sister's 19th birthday and although I'm not bad with present-buying, I wanted somewhere to give me a little bit of inspiration and Moonpig was just the ticket. I don't know about anyone else but I always just thought of Moonpig as somewhere to get cards from and I never thought of it as being somewhere to look for gifts but I couldn't have been more wrong. They're actually one of the best places I've seen online for gifts and I think that is because of the huge variety they offer, yet they keep it neatly categorised so you aren't overwhelmed with the gifts that you don't want.

So, when I'm looking for gifts online I always try and go to the category that I know that the recipient will love something from so I went straight for the beauty gift sets. There are absolutely loads of beauty brands on Moonpig from Accessorize to Bayliss and Harding to Beauticology but I decided to order a brand that I'd never heard of before. I ordered this absolutely adorable set of Miss Patisserie bath bombs and I'm not even joking when I say I could smell them in the parcel before I opened it. They are absolutely gorgeous and make such a wonderful gift - don't they look super expensive?

There's also a home sub-section and I thought I'd treat myself too. Who said that gifts had to be for other people?! I haven't treated myself in a while so I thought I deserved something nice so I picked up this gift set of Lily Flame Candles. I love these candles as it is and they really do fill the room with the beautiful scents. Does anyone else hate those candles that smell lovely in the box but then don't make the room smell at all?!

And finally of course, I had to get her a good ol' personalised card from Moonpig. It is what they're famous for after all! Normally, I'm a bit "meh" about cards and usually just throw them in the recycling but there's something really special about cards that have had a lot of thought put into them. For mine and Karl's very first Christmas together, he got me a huge classic Moonpig card with our photos on and I've still got it today because it's special, it means something and it doesn't just have a generic birthday message on. That's what I love about this type of card. Not only can you put the person's photo on, you can personalise everything about them, adding your own words, poems and anything else you desire. These are the cards that you keep in the memory box, to look back at them when you're a bit older, the ones that are more than just a card.

What would your idea of the perfect gift be?
