August is basically autumn in the UK right?! And that means I can start embracing the autumn trends, rocking a dark lip and taking photos of my pumpkin spice latte righhhhht?! Of course it does! I've been catching up on some of the up and coming trends for next season and I have to say that one of my favourites is the romantic ruffle trend. Now, ruffles have been in for quite some time now and although many of the ruffles seen on the catwalk were quite heavy, I still love the simple, feminine and pretty ruffles like this beautiful Zara top here. It gives off such a Victorian school teacher vibe but in a kinda cool way and although I've teamed it with simple black skinnies here, there are so many other ways light blouses like this can be adapted for the changing seasons.

Although I've styled this simply here, I'm currently thinking about layering the ruffles underneath a denim pinafore dress...too school-ish? Of course not! Anyway, I particularly love the ruffles trend because I think it's such a good way to give an update to the sometimes boring wardrobe staples. Whilst a white shirt is all well and good, it can be a bit meh sometimes so adding ruffles or bell sleeves is such a great way to switch it up a bit!
Another AW16 trend is animal print and I in fact picked these amazing shoes up last year in Topshop and haven't actually worn them that much. Animal print is a much more winter thang dontcha think?! Anyway, I just think it shows that you absolutely do not need to buy new things every time a season changes to stay on trend. You can make things work in your own way and even if it isn't considered "stylish" when you buy, if you like it then so bloody what? Chances are it'll come back round and be on trend in a few seasons anyway so then you'll be the trendsetter amiright?
What do you think of the AW16 trends?

I will never stop loving ruffles and victoriana blouses whether they are on trend or not! I totally agree that we don't need to buy into every trend - we should just buy what we like! I also love animal print and cannot wait to get my leopard print faux fur coat out! xx
