Superdrug is a favourite of everyone, whether you're a beauty blogger or not and I am no exception. I made a rather large order from their website a couple of weeks ago using my Superdrug Beauty Card points so thought I'd share with you all the products that I picked up and what I think of them so far. My entire order came to just over £50 and although that actually doesn't seem like I could get that much when a foundation alone usually sets us back over £30, you'll soon see one of the main reasons I love Superdrug - I got loads of amazing products for £50! Plus students get 10% off with a valid NUS Extra Card so you know what that means - yup, more money to spend on make-up!
So first up we have the Rimmel Wonder'full Extreme Black Mascara. I'm so picky with my mascaras and Rimmel is one of the only brands that I've found that actually does mascaras that I like. This one sounded right up my street and of course, the packaging is copper so how could I resist? I don't wear false eyelashes so love mascaras that lengthen, thicken and darken lashes all in one and this one has been fab so far. It's not clumpy at all and stays on all day, without rubbing off under my eyes like so many mascaras do on me. Winner for me!
I also got myself some new make-up brushes from Make-Up Revolution. I picked up the Rose Gold Foundation Contour Brush and the Rose Gold Ultra Pointed Crease Eye Brush and would you just look at how blooming beautiful they are?! I almost didn't want to use them! Anyway I've been using the eye brush mostly and I'm absolutely loving it. I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best at eye make-up but this makes blending shades into the corners of my eyes and my crease just a little bit nicer and you know what they say, practice makes perfect! I've only used the foundation brush once so far and I think I'll mainly be using it for the crevices of my face (ew, that word!!!) rather than my entire face, such as round my nose and cheekbones and jawline.
Next, I picked up blogger favourite the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick in the shade Happy Nude Year. Over the past year or so, I've fallen out of love with my red lippies and have found a new affair with nudes and light pinks. I'm too pale to suit the beautiful shades of light nude that so many people like (it just makes me look like I have no lips!) so I stick to the pinkier nudes like this dusty rose shade. It looks so lovely on the lips and although it does have a matte finish, it doesn't stick to or dry out your lips like some do.
Next we've got the Zoella Bath Latte. I'll admit I wasn't really a fan of Zoe's last offering in the beauty game but with her latest releases I think she has hugely upped her game and I love this one especially. It smells of quite strong but not overpowering vanilla and gives your bath some super thick bubbles, making for the perfect pamper night in which let's be honest, we all need after freezing our bums off in the middle of July! Zoe has got everything from the packaging down to the names of products down to a tee on this one (how cool is the name "bath latte"?!) and I've already got my eye on her bath salt and hand cream....
Finally, I just had to try some bits from Sleek. One of my favourite things about Superdrug is that it always has really good offers on the brands, meaning you can get really good make-up for next to nothing. When I ordered, there was a 2 for £10 offer on for Sleek, meaning I got the two larger palettes for £10, even though they should have been £9.99 each! I mean, how good is that - getting one for a penny! Anyway onto the products themselves. The one with six shades that you can see in the first photo is the Eye and Cheek Palette in Dancing til Dusk and although the shades aren't what I would normally go for, I've found myself reaching for this on almost a daily basis. I've been loving experimenting and I've found the orange shade is surprisingly my favourite. I love how it looks against the brown on my eyes and I've been blending it out all over my lids, adding a splash of gold to the middle and a touch of brown to my crease. It's such an easy everyday look!
The second palette is one that bloggers everywhere have been raving about and as I luuurve a good highlight, I couldn't resist trying it out myself. This is the Precious Metals Highlighter Palette and it's easily earned a spot in one of my favvvvvourite everyday products. The highlight is just as good as any high end highlight I've used and it's just so shimmery, it catches the light beautifully. It gets a double thumbs up from me and for that price, it's an absolute steal. Also, would you just look at that packaging?
Finally, we have the Shimmer Blush in Rose Gold, a shade which I think is perfect for the summer. It just adds a lovely rosy glow to the apples of your cheeks and although I'm usually more of a fan of matte shades for my contour and blush, this one isn't too shimmery so isn't overpowering at all. I've decided I overlook the Sleek counter way too much. I don't think I've had a product from them that I haven't liked so I'm going to make more of an effort to get myself over there when I'm looking for some new make-up buys!
As I mentioned above, I got all of these products with points on my Superdrug Health & Beauty Card and as someone who's partial to a good loyalty card (who wouldn't want free stuff?!), the Beauty Card is one of my favourites, partially because of the really efficient app that comes with it. It tells you how many points you have and you can just scan the barcode on your phone to collect points at the checkout in store or add the card to your account to get points when you shop online. Also, you can pay with a mixture of points and cash (which you can't do with a lot of loyalty cards) and all Beauty Club members get free standard delivery when you shop online! Yup, there are a lot of perks!
