Mind Your Own Blog

I'm sure I'm not alone in noticing a lot of animosity in the blogosphere of late. There have been posts published, tweets tweeted and some not very nice comments and quite frankly I'm tired of seeing the negativity. I'm tired of bloggers criticising other bloggers for mundane things that don't really matter, tired of seeing the same ol' comments, tired of people forgetting that online comments can and do hurt just as much as real life comments.

I'm a firm believer of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything." It's natural to not like some people. In the blogosphere, we're a group of mostly girls with very differing opinions, styles, niches and everything else and it's just life that you are not going to like everyone's blog. However, that doesn't mean you get to pull someone down just because you don't like what they're blogging about - if you don't like a blog, you don't have to read it and it's as simple as that. Instead of putting your time into hating on blogs you find "unrealistic" or "too perfect", put your time into building up the blogs you do love and think about your own blog. If you like designer handbags and fancy holidays then fabulous, blog about that. If you like drugstore beauty hauls and dupes then fabulous, blog about that. If you don't like either of them, you know where that unfollow button is! You absolutely do not have to make someone feel crappy just because you don't like what they're blogging about - believe it or not, they aren't basing their content around you and there is an audience for every single blog, whether it's a budget blog or a luxury blog. I just think we need to spend less time worrying about what Chanel bags other people are spending their money on and worry more about why we feel this bitter, negativity towards people who are different to us and I really believe we should spend our energy spreading blogger love, not hate.

*LAVISH ALICE WIDE LEG TROUSERS /*DICKINS AND JONES BAG / *DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH / *WOLF & MOON CHOKER / WHITE TEE, LACE UP SANDALS: ZARA / ROUND SUNGLASSES: H&M

Sorry for such a rant but I needed to vent a lil bit! Anyway onto the outfit because I think I have honestly fallen in love with these trousers and that is no joke. Lavish Alice has been one of my favourite brands for a while now as I just love how chic, classy and high quality their pieces are and these trousers are no exception. They're the perfect summer piece as they're floaty, light and although you can't see too well from the photos, they have splits down the sides that really billow as you walk, giving off a really chic daytime feel. Yet another "it's for holiday" addition to my wardrobe, even though we all know that's just an excuse!

The bag is another new addition. I noticed the other day that although I have quite the bag collection, there was a casual brown bag shaped hole in my life. That was soon filled thanks to House of Fraser and UNiDAYS with this Dickins and Jones bag. It's exactly the right shape and size for using everyday and it's barely been off my shoulder - it's so easy to just pick up, sling my stuff in and go without worrying if it matches. Such a staple!

What do you think about all of the animosity between bloggers at the moment? And do you have a pair of summer go-to trousers?!

  5. I love your bag! And I definitely agree with you - if you don't like a blog, don't read it. It's pretty simple! I don't get where people find the energy for all that negativity, it sounds exhausting.

  8. I completely agree, our blogs are our own personal space where we share ourselves and what we love! When you get negative comments it does hurt as we put so much into it, to get a bad response isn't comforting. I think us bloggers need to stick together, we should all admire each other for our own unique tastes and support one another regardless of differences!

  11. I love those strips, so cool! I definitely agree with the whole "mind your own business" thing. I've been quite ruthless lately in unfollowing people that I don't really care for on all forms of social media.

  12. YES to this post! At the end of the day, a blog is personal and usually written solely by one person so of course each person can write about what they love and what motivates them, it drives me mad the way certain people try to police everything and even going as far to say certain bloggers are bad examples because they are able to afford luxury fashion and nice holidays - GROW UP - people are allowed to spend their money how they wish. Whatever happened to you do you and I'll do me? Some people are so draining and pathetic. xx
