It's official. Spring is on its way and we all know what that means. Yup, it means an updated "new in" section on all of our favourite websites and what better excuse to update our wardrobes than a new season? PrettyLittleThing's new in section is just to die for and is full of beautiful pieces that are perfect for styling up SS16's hottest trends, one of which is the laid-back sporty look that we associate with the 90s. Think oversized silhouettes, comfy trainers, slouchy coats and a touch of luxury when you're looking for easy ways to wear this trend - it's easier to pull of than you think!
An obvious and easy way to start of this trend is to swap your ankle boots for a pair of trainers *gasps*. I know, I know. It seems daunting but really, trainers really go with anything and instantly dress down any outfit at all. This pair of black casual lace up trainers are from PLT's new in section and they are absolutely perfect for mastering the grungy, 90s look. Thanks to the faux leather material and minimalistic block colour, they look so much more expensive than they are (don't they give off a little bit of an Alexander Wang vibe?!) and as they come in at just £18, they really are a wardrobe essential for this kind of look!
Of course, trainers and jeans are a classic combination but by mixing the black with the charcoal of this pair of jeans, also from PrettyLittleThing, you get a real grungy feel from the whole look. The jeans are super tight and whilst they may not totally reflect the floaty, sporty shapes we saw on the SS16 catwalks, they're much easier to wear for an everyday look that still channels the sporty vibes.
As you've probably all noticed by now, bomber jackets are going to be everywhere this season (I love this grey satin bomber!) and their oversized fit and silhouette are perfect for nailing this trend. However, I can't resist a nice, slouchy aviator jacket like this one - PrettyLittleThing really have outdone themselves on this one! It compliments the sporty aspect of the outfit perfectly, adding a little bit of a masculine feel. Also, although it looks pretty thick it's not actually that heavy meaning it's the perfect transitional piece for this awkward time of year and let's be honest, we need nice coats all year around here in the UK!
Finally, the mini Michael Kors bag just adds that little bit of luxury to the entire look. This has definitely been one of my favourite additions to my wardrobe over the past few weeks and even though it's a real fun-sized MK, I've been using it so much - it just seems to go with anything!
What's your favourite trend this SS16?
