Spring is the time we can all look forward to getting back outside and getting out of the confines of the gym. The harsh winter winds that take your breath away will (hopefully) be replaced by clean, crisp air and the empty trees soon will be full of green and life again so we can get back out there and get a bit more active. I'm part of my local running club but I haven't been for a couple of months now because of (1) the horrible weather and (2) the mountain of third year law degree work so I can't wait to get back out there and get running again - I've honestly missed it and when you don't go for a while it feels as if all of your hard work is going to waste.
Spring is my favourite time to exercise outside because it's warm enough so that you don't freeze to death as soon as you leave the house but it's not so warm that you go to the opposite end of the scale and melt into a puddle as soon as you've done your warm up. The happy medium means you can get away with light clothes and as long as you keep the balance right, you're good to go. I love this baby pink Adidas Stella McCartney jacket for running at this time of year. Not only is it fit for purpose, but it looks super stylish as well (and we all know how important that is to make you feel good whilst exercising!) It will keep you dry through the spring showers but won't make you overheat halfway through your run. The perfect balance!
The other two coats I've included here are more for the outdoorsy activities that we do more of in the Spring. I live in the countryside so Spring includes a lot of long walks with the dog and outdoorsy things like that but as you're just walking instead of exercising in these, bigger coats are essential to keep the chill away. The grey parka is by Berghaus and the dark one is by Helly Hansen, two well known brands that have really made their mark in the outdoor activities sector. These two coats are perfect for keeping you toasty during Spring but not only that, these coats are the type to last a lifetime so can be used year after year, no matter how long the winter lasts. MandM Direct stocks both of these coats as well as a whole range of other jackets, coats and fleeces designed to take you through the seasons and help you tackle the ever changing British weather! Plus, they're all at amazing discounted prices so it really is the place to go to fulfil your outdoorsy, adventurous streak!
I also had to include a hat and some gloves in these picks. I suffer from Raynaud's syndrome (as I'm sure some of you do as well) and my hands and feet get really bad in the colder months. Raynaud's is a disease affecting the circulation in the body and blood supply is restricted massively when you get cold, meaning when I'm cold (i.e. most of the time) my hands and feet look like they belong to a corpse. It affects my nose and ears too but it's my hands and toes that are the worst and it can get really painful, meaning thick gloves are absolutely essential.
Don't forget to check out MandM Direct for more waterproof jackets if you're looking forward to getting back outside!
