The Breton Stripe

*JERSEY BRETON STRIPE DRESS: c/o PETIT BATEAU / LEOPARD PRINT COAT: ASOS / *NAVY ZIP TOP GRAB BAG: c/o RADLEY / *POINTED BLACK ANKLE BOOTS: c/o NEW LOOK / *NAVY STRIPED WATCH: c/o DANIEL WELLINGTON

I'm at it again. Stripes, stripes and more stripes because you can just never have enough right? If anyone tells you that you don't need to buy that striped dress then ignore them because you don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Stripes are going to be huge for SS16 and as a life-long fan of the classic Breton, I can't tell you how excited this makes me. This everyday beauty from Petit Bateau has been the perfect casual addition to my wardrobe and in today's post I'm showing you how I'm wearing it pre-Spring weather for that super stylish transitional look.

If you're anything like me, you'll have a whole section of your drawer dedicated to stripes. I'm not even joking at all when I say that I have around 15 different varieties of striped top and I'm definitely not finished yet. The stripe is a wardrobe classic; it's easy to style, it's simple, it's casual and the good news is is that it's back in full force for SS16. The catwalks saw names like Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Jonathan Saunders bring every type of graphic stripe you can think of to the party but in my opinion, you can't beat the classic breton.

This dress perfectly embodies the whole feel of Petit Bateau. It's simple, chic and oh-so Parisian and I've found myself reaching for it day after day. I can't wait to wear it in the summer without tights and with a pair of chunky black sandals but for now, in the transition between winter and spring, it has to be styled up differently. I've gone for something a little bit different and have teamed it with a dark, muted leopard print coat, clashing the prints together without going overboard. Teaming stripes with any other than a block colour, plain piece may seem scary but it's really not. Because they're such a versatile print, they can be clashed with just about anything! Florals is another great one to try out if you want to inject a bit of colour into an outfit.

And that's exactly what I love about Petit Bateau. Not only are the pieces of outstanding quality, but they're absolute wardrobe classics. Everything from Petit Bateau can be styled to embody any trend and can be worn throughout the year season after season - the pieces have a timeless, chic feel to them that never goes out of style. I've actually got my eye on this yellow raincoat - wouldn't it be perfect for when you get caught in the spring showers?

  1. You're right! You can never have too many striped clothing in your wardrobe. The one you're wearing reminds me so much from Novem & Knight. Definitely gonna need a pair of it soon!

  11. Ah the Breton stripe....a classic style which looks so effortlessly chic on everyone else, but I just cannot work! I always end up looking frumpy in stripes, although this dress is a beauty! x
