So for the full weekend last week, I was in fashion blogger heaven. I was in New York which is, as you'd expect, the perfect backdrop for outfit photos. Of course, I had to take advantage of this so my next three posts will be all about what I wore during my city break. City breaks can be tough to pack for. They're absolutely nothing like relaxation holidays in hot countries and you really need to plan your outfits so that you can pack tactically. For me, this all black ensemble with a chic coat and luxury accessories was the dream outfit for wandering around the super chic city of New York.
New York is one of the capital cities of fashion and the street style is always amazing there so I wanted to make sure my outfit was sleek but practical. All black is a failsafe for looking ultra chic so I packed my beloved French Connection trench. I love the all black coat and I just think that the contrast beige lining makes it look that little bit more luxurious, resulting in an outfit that's just the right amount of extravagance for a day of exploring. The Michael Kors mini Selma bag was perfect to pack in my case too. I talked about it in my post on Sunday about my perfect luxury outfit and it didn't disappoint in New York either. Yes it is tiny, but after having my purse stolen out of my backpack in Amsterdam in January, I always take a second, smaller purse and split my money in half so that if the worst happens again, it's not the end of the world. This lil cutie pie of a bag was the perfect size for fitting in my mini purse, my lipstick and my phone whilst my camera went around my neck, finishing off the outfit in style.
When it comes to simple, black outfits like this, accessories are everything. I love this knitted hat from Missguided as it just dressed the whole outfit down a little bit but doesn't make me look like an egg, which a lot of knitted hats can do! However, the watch is the accessory that really sets the outfit off accessory wise. The watch is from Dial, a lovely little brand focusing on creativity and freedom. The watch is absolutely adorable and comes with interchangeable straps, something which I love in a watch as it means it can be switched up to match any outfit all. The woodland theme with trees and butterflies plays into the freedom theme and I think they're a really cute, unique take on what a watch should be like as an accessory.
Stay tuned for some more NYC outfits coming this week!
