Grey Day

Yep, I'm dressing to match the recent weather. Dark and cold. Although I do love winter and wearing big coats and jumpers, I am so over shivering every time I leave the house and having to wear a thousand layers or risk freezing to death. Spring, we're definitely ready for you. I'm ready for bare legs and while it's not quite late enough into the year to wear mini skirts with no tights without getting the "oh my gosh you must be freezing!" comments. That's where these knitted ribbed midi skirts come in to save the day.

Usually I'm a mini skirt girl only but these past few months things have changed. I wore the metallic pink midi skirt in a post a couple of weeks ago and even have the orange pleated midi skirt version of it too and I think I'm beginning to gradually ease into the thought of trying new styles. The pleated midi skirts are definitely going to be getting a lot of wear in the height of summer but for now this ribbed midi is keeping me a little warmer. Granted I wouldn't say it's warm, but it's definitely warmer than the more floaty or shorter skirts. Plus, I think there's something so bad-ass about this style, especially when teamed with all black and biker boots. This grey ribbed midi skirt is just £22 from Topshop, a price which is actually really good when you consider how much of an everyday wardrobe staple it is. I've worn it casually but imagine it teamed with a black bralet and some killer strappy heels - that's the perfect grunge going-out outfit I can think of for this time of year.

I must also give this amazing backpack a mention. Can you believe it's from good ol' Primarni? It set me back around £10 and it such a lifesaver - it's honestly like Hermione's handbag from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as you can fill it with everything and anything and it's like a bottomless pit. I love it and for £10, you can't really go wrong. It's the perfect school or university bag and I've been taking it with me for my travels as it's a great size for hand luggage!

  13. I'm really enjoying midi-skirts but they're something I rarely ever wear. I feel great when I wear them, but being shorts and stubby-legged, I find they look a bit odd with flats/ankle boots, and therefore feel more night-time appropriate. I love the way you've styled this one though, the grungey vibes are awesome!
