It's nearing the end of January and we all know what that means. Yup, February the 14th is looming and for some of us that might be a great excuse to spoil our other half and have a good ol' date day but for the rest of us the thought of the store shelves being filled with the same old sequin covered tat fills us with dread. However, even if you don't have a partner to spend Valentine's Day with, you can always use it as an excuse to show yourself some luuurve and treat yourself to a little something that you normally wouldn't. If you do have someone special to treat, these are a few gift ideas that are a little bit "outside the box" of the normal category of tacky Valentine's Day and are really lovely and budget friendly ways to show someone you put a bit of thought into their gift.

Beauty related gifts are always a good idea, regardless of whether you're buying for yourself, your other half or a lucky friend. The MAC 9 shadow palette is a must have for any beauty lover. You can get a few different shades in this palette and this one is the Burgundy and the colours are so beautiful and so wearable. There's a mixture of glitter and matte shadows so they can be used for a night out glitzy look or a day time smokey eye so really you can't go wrong with this one! The Show Pure Treatment Oil is a little bit more pricey but it's worth shelling out on as this has become one of my most used hair products. It's a lightweight oil that really adds shine to your hair without weighing it down and despite the fact it comes in at £50, it will last you for years as you only need a tiny, tiny amount each time you use it. Plus just look at that bottle! If that's not worth of being a Valentine's gift I don't know what is.

My final unconventional but super duper cute gift idea is a little A4 print or artwork like this one. This is from the extremely talented Jazz Stan Artworks who hand draws all of her absolutely stunning pieces. Her Etsy shop boasts a whole host of designs with quotes like this one from the great Albus Dumbledore, to city landscapes to animal drawings. There is something for everyone amongst her designs and if you put a lot of thought into a meaningful quote or drawing, your other half will be completely smitten that you know exactly what they like and their favourite quote.
Are you a lover or hater of the Valentine's frenzy?

These are such beautiful ideas. I suppose some people are all for the red, heart shaped tat but it's nice to give something long lasting and meaningful :)
