Green Checks

*ALL SAINTS LEATHER JACKET: c/o JOHN LEWIS / FLOPPY HAT, RIBBED WHITE TOP, *GREEN CROSS BODY BAG (similar): TOPSHOP / GREEN CHECKED TROUSERS: ASOS / METALLIC BROGUES: ZARA (similar)

Expect to see a lot of these brogues and this hat in future posts because I just haven't been able to take them off. Floppy hats are absolutely essential for the coming Spring; they're perfect for whacking on your head on a bad hair day or when there are gale force winds out there which, let's be honest, has been just about every day in the UK thanks to all of the storms we've been having. I mean seriously, we only started naming them a few weeks ago and we're already halfway through the bloody alphabet!

The green checked trousers were a Christmas gift from Karl (#boydidgood LOL!) and I just absolutely love them. I do love a bit of classic red tartan, as shown by my Christmas grunge outfit post, but the deep greens and the navy are such a great alternative and tartan trousers are actually really versatile. Here, I've gone for the traditional tartan grunge look with the leather jacket and edgy shoes but equally they could be teamed with an oversized cream jumper and some trainers for a bit more of a laid back look.

I took these trousers away with me to Amsterdam for my trip last week and boy, did they serve me well. Sometimes it can be hard to think outside the box for travelling outfits; you want something warm, comfortable, light and versatile and obviously this can be a very tricky combination to get right. These trousers, although they're quite thin, kept me warm(ish!) throughout the freezing cold days and they were the perfect fit for walking literally miles around the city. Jeans can be a little bit restrictive and can get quite uncomfortable (especially after stuffing yourself with pancakes for three days straight) so I know I'll definitely be investing in more trousers like this for future trips!
