The Sunday Post: When You Just Don't Feel Good Enough

I'll be honest, this year has been tough, particularly the last few months. I'm currently half way through my final year of my law degree whilst running my blog and working two part time jobs as well and it is absolutely exhausting. Some weeks are better than others, the weeks I don't have a lot of hours in at work or the weeks where I've caught up with all of my notes and deadlines, but let's be honest with the fact that those weeks are few and far between. I'm a worrier and I worry and stress about anything but I'm also a very private person and never, ever share my problems or worries with anyone. I know this is the complete opposite for some people and some people might say it's not good to be that way but it's just how I am and how I always have been. These are just a few of the things I like to do to help during times like this and although they aren't some magical cure to end all woes, they can help alleviate it in the short term.

1. A D U L T    C O L O U R I N G   B O O K S
I'll admit I've only just jumped on the hype of adult colouring books. They were something I'd seen all over but I hadn't seen one that caught my eye...that was, until I discovered a Harry Potter themed one. It's full of stills from the Harry Potter movies as well as drawings of the house symbols and props from the books and the films, meaning it is the perfect adult colouring book for a HP nerd like me. Colouring in genuinely is so relaxing. I found it hard to believe at first but once you pick up those pencils and get shading, everything else seems to disappear into the background.

2. G E T   O F F    S O C I A L    M E D I A
We all love social media but equally we all know that it is not representative of real life. I'm constantly on social media whether I'm tweeting, instagramming or stalking people on Facebook, I'm usually never off it. Sometimes though, it's not good for you. When you're feeling low as it is, the last thing you need is Kylie Jenner and her beautiful but overly photoshopped face popping up and making you feel even worse. Schedule those tweets and put the phone down for just a few hours. You'll feel better for it.

3. C U D D L E   W I T H   Y O U R   P E T S
No matter how crappy you feel, your pets will always think you're the best person to ever walk this earth (unless you've just told them off for eating your dad's Christmas present from under the tree.) Harry and Luna are the best dogs to cuddle on a crap day as they really snuggle up into your legs and chest and just look at you with big, soulful eyes. It makes me feel instantly better!

4. W A T C H   Y O U R   F A V O U R I T E    S H O W
This one is an obvious one but one that never fails. Getting Netflix on and binge watching PLL or AHS is just a fantastic way to escape from the real world where you have to worry about your own problems, to a fictional world where you only have to worry about who Gaga is going to eat next. Get your most comfy pyjamas on, a cuppa and get binging.

5. P R O C R A S T I N A T E
Okay so by this I don't mean procrastinate and forget about everything you have do completely. I mean spend a bit of time having a a little bit of a mess around and doing nothing to get rid of the pressure. Sometimes I like to watch some videos on YouTube of dogs or cats or window shop on my favourite clothes websites. Playing fun little games on your phone or on the internet can be so soothing too! I love a bit of trivia so have been playing this UKTV Christmas TV Quiz non-stop - it is literally so addictive and so much fun. I'm actually really bad at it though and can't get past 40 points (I know, I know I need to brush up on my TV knowledge). See if you can get a bit higher than me!!

What do you do when you're having a crappy day?

  6. This post is so great. After this long semester I can totally relate. It's funny, I just got two adult coloring books for Christmas! And I definitely find myself binging on social media all the time, but yesterday I took a 6 hour break and cuddled with my pets and hung out with my family and it felt amazing.

These tips can't be more true.

  8. On crappy days I sadly stuff my face with crappy foods, entering a miserable cycle as I then feel even more crap. But watching TV probably helps the most because I love so many shows and you can count on the American show last especially to have some profound outlook on life at the end of the episode to make you feel better! Also, you're a machine. There's no way I could handle that much stress so kudos to you!
