The 2015 Travel Round Up

I've whinged and whined about 2015 being a very unlucky year for me and in a lot of respects it has, but there is one aspect of the year I've been very lucky in and that is travel. No matter what else crappy has happened this year, the experiences I've had in 2015 have been absolutely amazing and I can only hope that 2016 will be the same. 

My first trip this year was to Rome with Karl. It's somewhere we both wanted to visit so we decided to book up and go for three days in March. When we arrived, it was absolutely pouring down and we spent two and a half hours wandering around the very complicated streets looking for our hotel, only to find out that we'd walked past it twice! We got to visit some of the world's most famous historical sites including the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Vatican and so much more and although it is a very expensive city, it's worth every penny and is somewhere you must see before you die if you love cities with personality! 

Next up, I was lucky enough to visit Croatia with ASOS, Slydes and Croatia Wave and I can truly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. This time last year I would never have imagined my blog would literally take make around the world but it did and thanks to Salt and Chic I met some truly amazing people, including the beautiful Amelia, and experienced some of the best things. We explored secret beaches, got massages by the pool, visited Zadar Old Town, swam in Krka Waterfalls, went to Fresh Island Festival and that's only a snippet of it. It was absolutely fantastic and I can only dream that my little blog will take me even more places around the world - I honestly cannot say how brilliant it was.

A few days after I got back from Croatia, Karl and I jetted off to Amsterdam, yet another city that was on my travel bucket list. We stayed for three nights and it was one of the most bizarre yet most wonderful cities I've ever visited in my life and my friend Jess and I have even booked up to go back in January. It's a city full of pancakes, Nutella, art, history and beautiful architecture and you don't appreciate how wonderful it is until you are there. It has one of the best atmospheres of any country I've visited and although it rained the whole time we were there, it was magical. We visited the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, went on canal cruises, went to the Anne Frank Museum, the sex museum, the red light district and so much more! 

The final overseas trip I went on was to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. Karl and I went for a week of sun, sand and adventures and Sharm did not disappoint. We went scuba diving and snorkelling on the coral reef in the sea on our hotel's private beach, something which was so beautiful that it cannot be put into words. If you've been scuba diving you'll know just how beautiful it is under the water with the vibrant colours and weird fish! We also went on a Bedouin experience where we were driven into the desert to have dinner with the Bedouin people, riding camels and experiencing their way of life and finally we had a day trip to Cairo where we cruised down the Nile, saw the sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza and even went inside one of the famous Pyramids. 

I also went a number of trips in the UK itself, including weekends away in London, York and Chester, three fantastic but different trips. In York, we went on river cruises and into the dungeons while in Chester we visited the zoo and strolled around the picturesque city. London obviously involved shopping and Winter Wonderland!! I'd love to visit more cities in the UK next year. I mean, I do prefer trips abroad but I'd love to go on more day trips and one night breaks to see more of the country!
