Christmas Grunge

No matter what the trends are for Autumn and Winter, tartan is always a winner at this time of year. I love tartan because it's kind of like a grunge meets Christmas print and by that I mean you can find it on a tin of shortbread biscuits you bought for your grandma but equally you can wear it with a lot of black and a leather jacket and you have a perfect grunge outfit. This pair of crackers (yes Christmas pun definitely intended) is from Ark, who have some absolutely bang on tartan pieces, perfect for this time of year. I love the vintage feel of this pair and I did go a bit matchy matchy with my copper hair and bright lippy but everyone loves a bit of red in December right?! What's more is that the trousers are incredibly slouchy and comfy, making them perfect for when you undoubtedly overindulge on the Celebrations. Yep, we've all been there.

Obviously all black was the way to go when it came to styling this pair and luckily Ark had the perfect jumper. I'm a big fan of the roll neck anyway but I especially love how this one is made a little bit different with the cut outs in the shoulders. Arguably, it wasn't weather appropriate when there was snow on the ground but hey, I looked great so shoulder warmth was a sacrifice I was willing to make. I did end up throwing my leather jacket on over the top but it matched perfectly so it was all good.

The shoes remind of a really great dupe of Dr Martens, without the hefty price tag. They're another really grungy aspect of the outfit with the chunky fit and patent finish and they come in at just £25 so they won't break the bank either.
