I'll be honest - I don't have particularly bad skin but I don't have particularly good skin either. My skin is combination and can get really oily around my chin and my nose, sometimes resulting in those awful, red, painful under the skin spots that don't seem to go away. I know you're all probably all too familiar with these little buggers. The kind that pulse and hurt and take literally weeks to disappear? A few months ago I started to get a lot of them around my mouth and chin and it really started to impact on my confidence as those kind of blemishes can be really difficult to conceal. Nothing I used seemed to work and although some products helped to reduce the redness or helped to speed up the healing process, nothing did what I wanted. I wanted these spots gone.
I turned to trusty Twitter and to the #bbloggers tag and asked if anyone had any recommendations for getting rid of and, most importantly, preventing these nasty spots. Lots of people replied and the two words that kept cropping up were salicylic acid. I'm no expert in skincare so did have to research products and salicylic acid itself but I eventually thought I would give it a go and ordered Bravura London's Salicylic Acid 2% Treatment Peel, a decision which turned out the be the best I'd made i a while.
Like I said above, I'm no skincare expert and really don't know much about different ingredients in products etc. but after reading on the Bravura website, I discovered salicylic acid is useful for skin which tends to be oily and prone to blackheads, spots and trapped oil. Perfect for me! The little bottle arrived (30ml) and I was a bit surprised with it. The word "peel" makes me think of the filmy face masks you leave to dry and then peel off but this is more like a thick liquid. It came with instructions on how to use it safely without irritating your skin as you need to start by only leaving it on for a minute or so and building up the time as you use it.
All you do is put a little squirt of the product in a glass and dab it onto clean skin. I followed the instructions carefully and I honestly noticed a difference to my chin in a matter of days. The redness seemed to be fading, no more spots had appeared and my skin just looked....healthier. I kept going and used it for a few weeks with no more than a few little whiteheads appearing every now and then - I loved it!
I think I realised this stuff really worked for me when I went to Croatia and Amsterdam. Those few weeks were jam packed for me and I didn't take the peel on any travels with me so didn't end up using it for around three weeks meaning the spots came back almost immediately. Again I started to become really self conscious and felt really down about myself - I'd just gotten rid of the spots and they decided to make a reappearance! I started to use this again a couple of weeks ago when I started to get back into more of a routine after being away so much and guess what? I got exactly the same results. The spots started to disappear once again and I'm now in a position of feeling more comfortable in my skin and don't feel the need to rush to the make up drawers upon waking up. You do only get 30ml in the bottle for £9.59 but because you need so little each time you use it, this should last for quite some time.
After following the instructions carefully, I now use the peel every other day and leave it on my skin for around six minutes before washing it off. It's certainly safe to say this has become an absolute godsend for me and I don't think I'll ever be taking it out of my skincare routine. It's turned out to be perfect for my skin and has probably been the best £9.59 I've ever spent.

Ok, definitely need to purchase this! My skin sounds like yours - not bad, but definitely prone to the odd spot on the chin or nose. This oil sounds like a godsend!

I've been getting irritating little spots around my chin and temples lately, sore and under the skin. I've used salicylic acid before, I had a course of chemical skin peels which really helped but sadly my skin has gone worse again because I've not been using it regularly. The cleanser containing the acid was a godsend though! But it was really pricey, so this sounds like a more affordable version for me to buy.

This sounds like it would do wonders for my skin, plus I don't think the price is bad at all for a product that does actually work!

I've broken out a lot on my chin the last couple of weeks as I have been travelling a lot so haven't been using my normal skincare regime properly... not to mention a constant change of climate and water. This definitely sounds like it would work for me. Going to look into splurging on it :)

I've been exactly like that lately with red spots/lumps appearing around my chin! I'm not spot prone so i assumed it was something hormonal related. Sadly I seem to have been left with blemishes from them! Will be sure to check this out though, thank you! xx
