North East Street Style: Metro Centre

Whenever I'm lacking in inspiration for outfits or for a new way to style a piece I always turn to street style, whether it be looking at photos from certain events or from my own home town so when ASOS asked me to put together a piece about street style I jumped at the idea. I decided to do a post encapsulating the different styles that can be seen in the North East because, as you probably know, it's a lot less populated than the bigger cities down south but there are still countless different styles and trends that can be seen just on a day out shopping. So I headed to the Metro Centre and ambushed a few lovely ladies whose style I was crushing on! (p.s. It was only after I got home I realised I'd forgotten to ask the girls their names!! Bad blogger!)

This look caught my eye immediately thanks to the gorgeous denim jacket. For me a denim or a leather jacket is an absolute wardrobe essential and as is shown here, can be worn from season to season without ever going out of fashion. I love how this lovely little lady has contrasted the light denim with darker red and berry tones through the rest of the outfit making it an all around winner for this time of year! Thumbs up from me! Jackets in this style, whether denim or leather, also look absolutely stunning oversized so a lot of people have been shopping in the men's section to get that unstructured yet stylish look we yearn for; see what ASOS have to offer here.

Monochrome is always a winner and I loved how this pretty lady had teamed the deep red hat with the contrast shirt, boots and oversized cardigan, creating a simple yet rather elegant vibe with the oversized fit of the cardigan adding a bit of an edge. Perfect for a winter day out shopping! Oversized shirts and jackets like this are so flattering for a lot of different frames and I've noticed so many other bloggers absolutely rocking this type of look; a firm favourite for sure!

I love love love the grungy yet girly feel of this outfit and this gorgeous gal absolutely rocks it with the blonde locks and black tights, adding a statement necklace for an extra bit of glam, Red tartan is definitely a firm favourite of just about everyone at this time of year and I don't see it disappearing any time soon.

This has got to be one of my favourite looks of the day - as soon as I saw this lovely lady I just about sprinted over to her to snap her outfit! The layering, the accessories, the hair, the trainers are all just perfection in my eyes and this outfit is bang on trend with the oversized blanket cape dressed down a little with the Converse trainers. Vans and Converse are fool proof when it comes to casual outfits; you can throw 'em on with virtually anything and still look fab!

And finally with have this gorgeous gal with a smart, chic and classy offering. The knee high boots are an essential for A/W and I love how the bag with the tie has injected a splash of colour; it looks simply beautiful against the pattern of the top (which I think I've fallen in love with - I think I'm going to have to go on the hunt for a similar one!)

Well I hope you all enjoyed this little glimpse into the street style of the North East! Which one was your favourite look?

  5. Such a good idea, if only you ventured slightly lower down the North. The girls near where I live have some on point fashion.

  6. I'm in a rut too so need to do this, going to the Clothes Show tomorrow so that'll help methinks! I'd have probably picked out these styles too, whenever I tell a girl they look nice I get some odd responses (I'm North East too but lower down) so I'm interested to know if they were ok about it? 👌😙 curiousaliceloves.wordpress.com

    1. Yeah they were all fine about it! A couple of them were a bit taken aback I think but mostly I think they were flattered! I think it is a compliment though when someone asks to take a photo of your outfit!

  13. All five of those outfits are lovely. I love the floral print skirt in the first outfit, the colour blocked blouse with zipper in the second outfit, The tartan skirt in the third outfit, the layering you referred to in the fourth outfit, and the fascinating print of the top in the fifth outfit. I loved seeing the street style. It's hard to pick just one favourite, but I think I like the floral print skirt and denim jacket combination best.
